Licensing in Queensland is split
In Queensland, tiles, sarking, and structural roofing fall under a QBCC Roof Tiling or Roof and Wall Cladding licence. Gutters, downpipes, valley flashings, and rainwater connections are roof plumbing work, regulated separately. A specialist who only holds one of those licences is technically not allowed to quote the other half of your job.
We verify both licences at the start of every quarter, plus QBCC Home Warranty Insurance for any contract over $3,300, and the 6 year 6 month structural defect coverage that goes with it.

Issued before any work starts on a residential contract over $3,300. Covers structural defects for 6 years 6 months. Unique to Queensland.
Current certificates of currency are sighted, not just claimed. Minimum $20M public liability. WorkCover Queensland active for every site worker.
Required for any fibro or pre-1987 cement-sheet roofing removal. We do not allow non-licensed removal at the 10 m² DIY threshold either.
Restoration, repair, or replacement
Roofers who lead with replacement when restoration would do it are either uninformed or upselling. Here is the short version of how a Brisbane property usually maps to a service, before any quote is written.
Cracked or slipped tiles, lifted flashings, leaks tracked to a known point. Common after hail or a tradesperson stepping in the wrong place. Fix what is broken without disturbing the rest.
Roof is structurally sound but tired: faded coating, brittle pointing, minor tile damage. Pressure clean, repair, re-point, then re-coat. Adds 10 to 15 years before a full reroof becomes the right call.
Tiles cracking across the field, fibro or pre-1987 asbestos sheet, structural batten failure, or repeat insurance claims. Strip back to battens (or further), upgrade sarking, and reroof in tile or Colorbond.
